Grade 6, £22,998 to £28,818 (inclusive of local weighting), full time, 37 hours per week fixed term contract for 6 months (Sabbatical cover) starting from 28 January 2019.

About the role 
An opportunity for an experienced Technical Theatre Manager has become available to work at Hertford Theatre to lead the small dedicated technical team. With significant capital developments on the horizon this is an exciting time for you to join us, not only presenting a range of received productions and events but to also input into the technical development of the new building scheme. 

This motivated and highly professional team is looking for an individual committed to excellence in their work and with a passion for organisation and detail.  If successful you will lead the team across all aspects of the technical delivery of incoming shows, cinema, events and associated activities. 

Some of the key responsibilities include:

The efficient operation and technical support for all events and shows at the Hertford Theatre.
The maintenance of all technical equipment maintenance and supplies.
To liaise with hirers, artistes and managers of incoming shows to ensure programmes are successfully operated and delivered to the highest possible standard.
To ensure the effective and efficient rostering of technical staff and resources appropriate to the theatre programme.
The post holder is responsible for the production of the theatre's Health and Safety directive appertaining to stage and stagecraft regulations ensuring compliance. Risk assessments and fire risk assessments. 

About you
This role will suit a committed and experienced theatre technician familiar with a range of lighting and sound consoles and kit who also has experience of leading a small team to deliver a range of rapidly changing drama, dance, comedy, film, community productions and events. 

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience in Technical Management/Supervision 
The capacity to work as a strong team player but independently where appropriate
A broad understanding of best practice in all aspects of the work undertaken by a theatre technical department.
Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements as they relate to theatres.
Experience of working in a multi-purpose venue and/or receiving house.
The ability to deal with challenging situations using tact and diplomacy
Competency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Excellent communication skills
The ability to motivate people around them

You must be over 18yrs old to apply.

You will serve a wide range of customers throughout the day and evening so the ability to use your own initiative and work well under pressure is essential.
Providing first class customer service is essential.
You will need to be flexible as no week is the same and shift patterns will vary and fall between weekdays, evenings and weekends.
