Helpful Hints for Families

Helpful Hints for Families

As a family, your visit to the theatre should be as stress-free and enjoyable as possible, creating memories and conversations long after you’ve gone home. We hope this short list will answer any queries you have about visiting us.

Hertford Theatre is committed to being a family friendly venue and we welcome all families.

We do remind families that Hertford Theatre is a place of work and a busy, active theatre and cafe space, not a play area - children should be supervised at all times.

Steps and Access

There are no steps when you enter the theatre or in the general visiting area. There are no steps to get into the auditorium; however you will need to navigate some steps if you are sitting in the tiered seating.

Baby changing facilities and feeding

We have a toilet for those with disabilities which has full baby changing facilities.

You are welcome to breastfeed or bottle feed your baby in our café area.

Buggies and Prams

There is plenty of room in the café for buggies and prams to move around easily.

We have booster seats available at the back of the auditorium for small children. These operate on a first come first served arrangement- simply collect one on your way in and return it on your way out!

Bringing Babies to Hertford Theatre

We want your whole family to be able to enjoy our wide variety of shows.

We offer ‘Babes in Arms’ tickets on many of our shows, simply enquire via the Box Office.

These tickets are free and are issued for fire regulations only.

They are suitable for babies that are not going to be sat on their own, so we advise these are children under 18 months old.

We ask that if your baby is crying that you take the baby outside the auditorium where you can soothe them without disturbing other patrons.
