Tickets: £15 nightly, £47 for a weekly ticket. To purchase a weekly ticket, click here.
Duration: approx 3hrs each night, including the interval. Saturday night duration will be longer due to the awards ceremony.
Suitable for: aimed at adults. We recommend ages 12+
When completing your order, please check carefully which night you are booking for.
In fairness to the competing teams latecomers will not normally be admitted to the auditorium until a suitable break in the performance.


The 59th year of Hertford’s nationally acclaimed drama festival for full-length productions!
Six nights, six productions, from six visiting drama companies, performed in competition, all professionally adjudicated each evening by Chris Jaeger, MBE, FRSA, GoDA, one of the country’s leading adjudicators.

The awards, presented following the Saturday evening performance, are for the overall Winner, the Runner-up, best Stage Presentation, and the Adjudicator’s Award which can be awarded for any outstanding feature of the festival.

Also don’t forget our Audience Appreciation Award, which means all our Weekly Ticket holders have the chance to be adjudicators!

And the festival offers superb value at just under £8 per night if you buy a Weekly Ticket and see all six performances – a whole week of live theatre in Hertford.

Weekly Ticket holders are eligible to vote for the Audience Appreciation Award on the final evening.
The presentation of the awards will take place after the Saturday performance.

Hertford Theatre Week is an adjudicated Drama Competition and a qualifying festival for the National Drama Festivals Association All-Winners Festival.

The Adjudicator
Chris Jaeger MBE FRSA GODA

Chris Jaeger is a highly-experienced writer, musician, actor and director.  For 12 years he wrote and directed the Swan Theatre professional pantomime and the professional outdoor Summer show.
He is a senior member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators and adjudicates drama festivals all over Britain and beyond.
Chris has adjudicated two British One-Act Finals, four Welsh Finals, two English and a Northern Irish Final, plus many full-length festivals. He is also drama advisor to the Royal Navy.
Chris is a Fellow of the University of Worcester and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is a former chairman of the English Symphony Orchestra. In 2013, he was awarded the MBE for services to the Arts.
He lives in Worcester and is married with one cat.

Chris Jaeger will give his adjudication after each performance.
