Join Hertford Theatre in the intimate, atmospheric surroundings of Southern Maltings this Christmas and immerse yourself in the ice-cold, snowy world of Lunavik; where even the moon is frozen!
A greedy dragon has gobbled up every fire and every light, leaving only the white glow of the frozen moon.
Under the glittering stars and dazzling aurora, Amka’s family are huddled together, fishing for eels and knitting plenty of hats!

Award-winning Half a String presents a tender folk story of love, friendship, and giving.
Beautiful songs are live looped, fun rhythmic poetry forms the tale, astonishing puppets, and breath-taking sets complete this stunning production.

Your Under the Frozen Moon experience begins as you push open the door to Southern Maltings and you enter a sparkling, magical world of ice and adventure.
Why not bring along your favourite woolly gloves and a cosy hat?
And after the show, you’ll have a chance to meet the characters and have your frosty photo taken with the amazing puppets!
It’s the perfect Christmas treat and we promise you’ll never want to leave the magical, mystical world of Under The Frozen Moon.

'This is a warm-hearted, joyful affirmation of life’s richness, with plenty to delight adults and children alike.' (The List)

‘A beautiful piece of entertainment, a multi-dimensional show…Imaginative, ingenious and visually stunning’ (UK Theatre Network)

'Young or old, this show tugs at the heartstrings' (Young Perspective)

A relaxed show is where some of the “traditional expectations” of watching a show are removed or relaxed, making the space as welcoming as possible for those who may find sitting quietly in the dark more challenging.
The story remains the same, but some of the special effects may be removed and the music will be quieter, along with the lights left on slightly. Audience members can move around and leave if they need a break. No-one is expected to be quiet.
Developed for neurodiverse children and families, these shows are also ideal for families with young children coming to see a show for the first time or those with very young babies.

We're pleased to offer 2 performances that will be interepreted by a BSL signer. The signer stands at the side of the stage so audience members who use BSL don't miss out on any of the dialogue and noises that make up the show. All aspects of the show remain the same during a BSL Signed show. We recommend sitting as close to the front of the stage, in the centre block if you require this service.
